Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is this still available for new order. How would it look on 996/997? Spizz

POST 2Original post

It would have to be a color to sample option ($4315). Here are some shots of the color:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looks good - but v. expensive - back to the drawing board! Spizz

POST 4Original post

Nics color and very nice tail. I like this and riviera blue. I wish Porsche would get back to exciting colors like this.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dertub Couldn't agree more - Porsche are you listening? Spizz

POST 7Original post

Spizz Oil: As Viken points out you can get paint to sample for the 996 and I presume the 997 (alas not the GT3). Why should the fact that it's a $4K option dissuade you from getting the color you want? It's not a significant percentage increase on an already expensive car. Considering the ridiculous amounts Porsche charges for some options the paint to sample could almost be considered reasonable. Not that I personally do but I bent over for the $3K Cobalt Blue paint so I could find my Boxster S in a crowd.

POST 8Original post

nice color but I think some standard colors look really good too. Are you thinking of a 997? Maybe they will have different standard colors compared to the 996...

POST 9Original post

I know you're not planning it anymore, but here's how it looks on a 996. Not sure where I found this pic, so if it's yours, thank you.

POST 10Original post

Wow, who'd a thunk it -- that's one of the nicest 996 colors! J

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Steve - maybe you are right about cost. Difference Engine thanks. I think that the problem is that Porsche now see their competition as XKR/500 SL - and therefore have similar subdued palette - Guards Red and Speed Yellow excluded, I wish that they would take more account of their competition heritage like Ford GT. Can you imagine 997 with Gulf Blue/Orange? Spizz

POST 13Original post

I agree with the sentiment that Porsche has gone too much to conservative, luxury car colors. This is partly due to dealers who only want to stock "safe" colors. I'd like to see more "in your face colors". Look at the blue that Nissan offers for its 350Z (I like it) compared to the current standard blues that Porsche has on their palette--very dark, very conservative. I'd like to see cobalt blue, speed yellow, or guards red as the #1 color for a change!

POST 14Original post

Spizz: Gulf Blue would be a great color but at least here in the US one cannot special order it. I know someone that tried getting it for a 2002 996 and was told it was a prohibited color.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hate to think what "prohibited" means and why. What other colors should Porsche introduce from the past. There is that great eau de nil colour you could get on 964 RS. Not sure what it is called. Tangerine? Oher ideas? Spizz

POST 16Original post

spizz i know i'm biased but why not consider lapis blue? it very close to cobalt and will save you $3k that you'll never recoup on trade in.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lapis is just a bit too tasteful for me! Spizz

POST 18Original post

One of the best looking Porsches I've seen anywhere. Exactly the right color, tail, stance, etc. Congratulations!!

POST 19Original post

spizz for more attention speed yellow is the way to go--beware the cops though! i'm certain i get less tickets in lapis blue than i used to get with guards red, which is still my favorite color.
