This is just a feel good story, I have a friend of mine with a 1996 C4S.His car is awsome, but friday night we went out in my 2004 C2 and now he wants one!!Who cares about the RMS thing, this proves to me that the 996 is just as much or more of a Porsche then a 993

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It proves your friend wanted a 996 instead of his 993. That's all. Many have gone from 993 to 996, 996 to 993, 993 to 930, etc. They are all Porsches.
996 vs 993, 993 vs 996, here we go again... Wonder what's going to happen when the 997's come out? Question: How many 996 owners will be sore about the introduction of a new 911? Hopefully not as many as there are in the disgruntled 993 crowd... You've heard it all before..."996's aren't really 911s"...that line of BS about air cooling and spartan interiors...cup holders and decadent luxury... I hope not to see any 996's with the license plate reading: "LAST911"...
I was not saying anything negitive about the 993.. i was just so happy that this guy really really enjoyed the car.I think that the 1996-1998 C4S/Turbo is the best looking Porsche EVER made, however it had 0 refinement, and that may be part of its charm. And I cant wait to see the the 997 if its a better car...........then Ill buy one I mean a Porsche is a Porsche no matter what, but sometimes i think some Porsche owners are to dam serious.
As a Porschephile myself, I really can't wait to get a 993... C4s would be too sweet to image right now... hhhhhmmmmm 993 C4S (said as Homer).
Brian, I must comment to your license plate comment. I have had LAST 911 as my tag through 3 cars, 964, 993, and now 996TT. Trust me, I know and loved them all for different reasons. When asked about my tag, I usually had two replies, one specific to the generation of car, and one to 911's in general. To wit: 964 - "Last of the 911's". It was strongly rumored in Europe were I was living that Porsche was going to drop the 911 designation with the next series (993). 993 - "Last of the air cooled 911's". 996TT - "Last 911 that I'll ever need - for now". For all: "The last 911 I may ever own as tomorrow is promised to no man". Cheers,
C'mon guys...they are all great cars
