Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Heated seats are a must but I don't want them to keep me from getting the perfect vehicle if it doesn't have them. It seems retrofitting them in is easy and pretty cheap. My question is can I make it so that they hook up to what would have been the heated seat buttons in a car that didn't come with them? It appears that most of the buttons for most options are present in the car even if the option isn't there, they just aren't labelled or functional. Thanks

POST 2Original post

You will have to get the heating elements and the correct wiring harness and, of course, the buttons themselves. The buttons are the easy part. Do a search on "heated seats" and you will find a thread that some one posted about a year ago about adding heat to their seats.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Aye, not too worried about the seats themselves. Apparently several local places do a good job at that. It's the wiring it into the stock buttons in the correct place on the dashboard that I was concerned about. I don't want some hokey buttons in some weird place.
