I'm hearing a lot of griding (and other ugly noises) whenever I attempt to rev-match downshift to 2nd gear. All other gears are fine, and 2nd is fine when I'm not rev-matching. I'm guessing this is a synchro problem of some kind. Anyone have any thoughts? Also, if it is a synchro problem, can just 2nd be fixed or am a looking at total rebuild or new transmission? Anyone guess on the $$$ I'm looking at?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have seen the number $4k for a rebuild on 6 speed but don't quote me on it. Good Luck with the Fix.
Does it have the problem when going from 3rd to 2nd? or it is only from a higher gear to 2nd. double clutching it might help.

Only a higher gear to 2nd and only when I rev-match. At slow speeds, shifting to 2nd from a higher gear isn't an issue.
Shifting from 3rd to 2nd shouldn't be a problem. Some times mine will be hard to get into 2nd when going from 4th to 2nd at high speeds and while braking and rev matching. Double clutching works for me but the proper thing to do is 4th to 3rd then 2nd, I have never had a 2nd gear issue doing it the proper way.
