hi all, i have been trying to locate the perfect revs for starting my car at the traffic lights.... what do you think is the best revs to go with in order to get the best start? should PSM be on or off. i would think better off, since when it operates it drops a bit the revs making the whole procedure a bit slower.... what do you think?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3000 rpm with psm off. You shouldn't get too much wheel spin.
If it's on a flat, just start off ar 1,000 - 1200 rpm. You don't need any more. Obviously the rpm's would increase as the incline of the road increases.
When you say "start", did you mean: (1) just get the car rolling; or (2) take out the SL55 stopped at the light next to you? If you mean (1), then I used to get rolling at about 1,200 - 1,500, but since installing the lightweight flywheel, I've found that I am constantly (probably unintentionally) needing 1,700-2000 rpms to get it moving because the point of engagement doesn't feel as "solid". A couple of times, when I've tried to see how "low I can go", I end up stalling the car because there are either not enough revs or the flywheel is too light to move the car at 1000-1200 rpms. If you are talking about a full-blown launch--I'm not sure but would be interested in knowing.
The starting revs I mentioned above are for a stock flywheel and for everyday, normal driving. If you have a lighter flywheel, you HAVE to increase the revs or you will stall the engine. This is the problems with the GT. The flywheel is so small that it has little torque. I have heard that the are installing a fix for the car that "blips" the throttle slightly when the clutch is released to prevent stalling. You need some weight and mass to keep the drivetrain from stalling the engine at low rpm's.
the reason why i am asking is because i have to rev up to 6000+ rpm in order to get that kind of kick off as i did with my 964.. everything on this car seems so smooth that makes me think isn't that fast... of course when i mentionted start i did mean the situation with the SL55....
It depends how many times you want to be able to launch the car like that. The fastest way and the way to maintain highest torque would be to launch at 7,000 rpm fethering the clutch out, making sure you never fall below 4500 rpm. After doing a few starts likes this, stop by a dealer and have them put in a new clutch. Then repeat as desired. I generally will launch from 3500 rpm, feathering the clutch just enough to keep the wheels from breaking. Once your rolling, it's all a matter of shift point and shift speed. This method allows me to hit 100 mph in less than 10 seconds with minimal wear to the clutch.
I still think 3500RPM is high for a flat launch. It can be done below 1000RPM, more generally 1000-1200RPM.
I was referring to a power launch in my second post.
I believe that the testers at "Autocar" favour the following- 7K and side step off the clutch! This will probably $hag every component in the drive train but those guys don't care- they never actually own the car.
everyone knows how harmfull 7K and clutch release will be on our cars...but it is just a question for wich i did get my answer.
^ i beg to differ on the 7K clutch dump idea... i did a high RPM (5k or maybe a bit more) at a drag strip and found that i got too much wheelspin and crappy times that followed...it may be better to control the clutch uptake rather than to just dump it like in a mustang..
