On another post some wondered how others got the new 991 desk thingee. The trick was that you had to be a current PCNA customer. There are two ways to do that: buy a car at a dealer or have your car serviced at a dealer. That puts you in the 'current customer' database. Now I am a firm supporter of local business and have taken most of my fleet to European Performance in Raleigh, NC for years. When I had 944s and 968s it was an easy decision as the local dealer really did not have much experience with these older cars. And while they have loads of experience with the 996, and my local dealer is well-respected, I continue to take my Porsche to European. Their hourly rate is lower and usually their parts cost is lower as well. And I like those guys. But... when the yearly North Carolina inspection is due I always have that done at the dealer. The price is fixed, so rate and parts is irrelevant, and it only deprives my independent of a few dollars. It also gives a different tech a chance to look the car over - which is never a bad idea. But the best reason for doing this, as you have already figured out, is that it makes me a current PCNA customer! I get invited to all exclusive events, get all kinds of service offers and other deals, and I got an invitation to sign up for the 991 thingee with my name engraved on it. Don't tell anyone!

YOUR RESEARCHHere is a little trick...
1 matching discussions were examined; no attributable action/outcome evidence was detected. No consensus or repair conclusion is claimed.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you are not the original owner of your car, look in the back of your owner's manual, and fill out the new owner card and send it in. That will get you registered with PCNA, and you will be on your way to all of the junk mail, spam newsletters, and shwag offers you can handle. Enjoy!
That makes sense, but I need to figure out what I did to be on the list. I haven't had it to the dealer in over 2 years (before the CPO ran out)! Just got the desk thingee today.

I was in the PCNA database and on their mailing list, but the new 991 desktop giveaway was completely out of stock when I tried to order it.
I'm a current PCNA customer, but don't recall seeing the sign up for this... I wonder if I got it, or if it ended up in the trash without realizing what it was.
I think you got an offer in the mail and had to ask for it/sign up for it.

+1 I signed up but I am still waiting for mine. Doesn't really crush me if I don't get one.
FYI, Porsche has notified me that there are "out of stock" on the desk top marketing/advertising item tied to the 991 annoucement. demosan
I got this last weekend -- I think it came Fedex with a hardcover book on the 911 (which I have yet to open). I'll try to take a photo of it and post soon. If you didn't get one, I wouldn't fret because it's not that great -- unlike the aluminum block with the VIN that original 996 owners got 10 years ago.
Mine came in today, not as big as I thought but kinda cool. Will be a great conversation starter in the office.
