Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had a GT3 bodykit installed and after its been raining water collects inside and when I open the boot the water pours out the side drainage holes. Shouldnt there be some drainage holes further down the spoiler so that water wont collect? I am concerned that the water over time will cause damage to the spoiler. And yes its a pattern part made of fibreglass/plastic. Would it be worth drilling some more drainage holes

POST 2Original post

This a Porsche feature. The spoiler is designed to retain water in wet conditions, increasing downforce at the rear of the car under slippery road conditions.

POST 4Original post

VORLAND, where do you see the water ? Are you actually seeing the water in the spoiler? I don't understand how they got in first place. I also have the factory GT3 body but dont have this problem AFAIK. I will recheck it next time.

On top of the spoiler you have the 2 vents that allow air in. It seems that rain water collected inside and when I open the engine lid after heavy rain the water come out of the two drainage holes. You cant actually see the water inside. You only know its there when you open the lid. I am tempted to have 2 more drainage hole drilled in so that as soon as water enters its expelled along the 'drainage channels' on the side of the engine bay. I would post some pics but camera is out of action. Does anyone have any pics of a GT3 rear engine lid underneath, so I may examine any drainage holes that should be on my spoiler. thanks.

POST 7Original post

That looks like an aero package spoiler, not the GT3 wing. At least this side of the Atlantic. I assume either driving (wind should force h2o out), or storing the car in a garage will prevent any meaningful collection.

POST 8Original post

Yes sir I agree it looks like it's the Aero I package minus the rears..... I'm not sure anyone would spend their money on a real GT3 package vs. the Aero anyhow. . . . The Aero is expensive at it is..... I just sold my Aero I package minus the front bumper for close to $3,000.00. -Eli

POST 9Original post

That is GT3 bodywork, though it didnt come on the GT3s that came to the USA. We only got the MKII 996 GT3. That bodywork is from an MKI GT3, I'm not sure of the exact years the MKI was produced.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes its the aerokit. Different naming conventions here in the UK. Will be drilling 2 4mm holes so that any excess water get expelled along the 'guttering'.

POST 11Original post

I have the same spoiler (GT3) and have never had a problem with water getting in it. I looked at it closely today and see no way that water can get in. Mine is a 99 factory kit, so maybe they modified it a little in later years. It looks from your picture though, that it is the same one.

POST 12Original post

I spoke too soon. I DO have drain holes in the GT3 spoiler. They are to either side of the weather strip on the lower part of the spoiler. The weather strip that makes contact to the bumper. There is one 1/4 inch hole drilled on each side of the weather strip. If you don't have them, put them in. Otherwise..I wonder if they are there and just clogged. Good luck.
