Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I only joined the Porsche world 6 months ago (and 9k miles in the meantime) and just yesterday have left for a while. I sold my '02 C4S w/26k miles on it, trading it in for an '02 Maserati Spyder. I had been itching for a convertible and looked at C4S cabs, but the price was hard for me to justify when I'd be just as happy in some other cars. I ended up not losing any money on the deal somehow. I paid 64,500 for the C4S in December for it w/ 17k miles on it. It had a roll bar that I sold for 1k, so I had 63,500 plus 3% NC tax. I traded it in for 62,500 and no sales tax (since the maserati was 59k), so I effectively got 64,500 for the car. It was great owning the C4S and I never even had to take it to the dealer. Very reliable. I'm loving the Maserati though. The convertible aspect is great...I'd missed that since my '01 M3 cab. The exhaust note is to die for. Very comfortable and much nicer interior (as we all realize). Its a very different car and at this time, it was more the right car for me. The Spyder only had 6k on it, paid 59k for it...that's the best deal I've ever seen on one. Its silver/black w/ 6-spd manual...exactly what I was looking for. I like the exclusivity of it...and people either have no clue about it (and don't notice it) or drool all over it. Anyway, I'll continue to lurk here. I have some stuff off my C4S for sale if anyone is interested...email me @ marcmc8867 at yahoo. PSE (6k mi) $1300 shipped. Fabspeed CAI w/BMW Filter (2k mi)...$250 Fabspeed Muffler Bypass pipes $250 Turbo hollow-spoke wheels, excellent condition $1000 (bald Pirelli tires free of charge Dunlop M2 winter tires (600 miles) $600 Black Turbo/C4S bra $100 Brey Krause fire extinguisher mount $100 Oil filter wrench $20

64,500 for the C4S in December for it w/ 17k miles on it - seems like that is where you did well. I was looking for one only recently and didn't see any that cheap with that kind of mileage.

POST 4Original post

I would have seriously looked at the Maserati, two things kept me away - one was the lack of all wheel drive which I need and two was that the car is so new. It doesn't have any service history so I was afraid of the total cost of ownership. Post some pics and let us know how the car is from a maintenance perspective. Best of luck, Rob

I love the interior on the Maseratis. Congrats on the car!

Thanks for the congratulatory words, all... The key to this whole thing was buying/stealing the C4S so well in the first place. I'm amazed to have been able to have fun with it for 9k miles and lose nothing on it after I lost a total of 30k on 2 e46 M3s over the last couple years. I just got back from a lakeside drive with the g/f and the car is just a great cruiser...the ultimate GT, I think (short of cars much more expensive). Next on the to do list is to buy a Tubi exhaust and really let her sing... I'll probably be trading again sometime next summer and who knows, i may end up in a 997 S model... I've just got to keep my course of trading without losing if possible ...that'll be the key to my automotive ADD coexisting with my personal finances. Perhaps a 996TT will be the ticket...

Hows the resale on those Maserati's? From what I see, they don't hold their values that well, and definately not as well as Ferarri or Porsche. Bobby
