Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its 1 AM so i'm going to formulate a more detailed post on this tomorrow but lets open it up to discussion so I have yet another thread to distract me from incomming exams 1) Technical Feasibility: Things to consider are the stock compression of the Carrera blocks, and the materials the components are made of. What, if anything will need to be upgraded? If people are squeezing stupid power out of econobox engines, why can't we get more out of ours! We can rebuild it..we have the technology (cue cheezy 80's TV show here) 2) Economics: cost of doing such a mod. When you consider that Carreras are still going for roughly 50 grand or so Canadian (maybe less, maybe more) and turbos are about 100 grand and up depending on KMs and stuff, there's a big price gap. Is it enuff to justify turboing a N/A engine? 3) Results: duh........?

POST 2Original post

I think when you P has not too many miles/km's and you plan to keep it for a couple of years..it is worth putting a turbo or SC in.....I wouldn't do it to mine almost 65K..don't think the engine would like it much....but if mine had only 20 or K's I would seriously consider it...because the cap between like you stated 50K and 100K is not closed by spending 10-14K US and the power, speed and sound of a turbo must sound like music...but then again...you also have to upgrade the shocks, springs and some other stuff to keep the car on the road!
