Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was just wondering if I need to be fearful of the battery dying and I cant get into my bonnet to access the battery thing. If it is cable actuated, it should open fine even with a dead battery. Right? I would appreciate any help with this.

POST 2Original post

I believe that the 99 models have a cable on the fender on the passenger's side that you can access. I am not sure if the 99 models have the jumper connection in the panel or not (as shown in the link below). You might want to check it out before you need it. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/267133-emergency-hood-release-urgent-help-needed.html

POST 3Original post

This is correct. The 99 is completely cable released - as long as you can get in the car, you can open that front boot.

POST 4Original post

But then if the battery is really dead do the doors still unlock (I'm not saying, I'm asking)?

POST 5Original post

you may have to turn the key in the door as opposed to electrically unlocking. i read something or other about if the car dies with the alarm on it causes problems. however i picked up my 911 with a dead battery and was able to unlock and jump start with no issues.

POST 6Original post

Ah, I wasn't sure that the key was still a mechanical connection.
