Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The OEM thicker steering wheel only comes in black, as far as I can tell. So, what are my options for getting a thicker wheel to match my seal grey interior? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

There was a guy on the 997 Forum that had his new steering wheel reworked by someonw who added some additional padding and rewrapped it in leather. You might want to do a search over there and look at the pics. He also listed a way to contact him if you have some interest in this guy's leather work. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

There is a guy who does this, I think his name is Alan Gun... Do a search on ebay for steering wheels 996 and you should see his ad with contact info. Bruce

POST 4Original post

how about grey in alcantara? I have my eye on this GT3-RS wheel: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p96151.htm

POST 5Original post

FYI, the guy on the 997 Forum said the "leather guy" could and would do the steering wheel in alcantara. BTW - here is the link to the thread on the 997 Forum. The thread title is steering wheel custom wrap https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...hlight=thicker

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I contacted the guy--Alan Gun-- who was very polite and professional. His prices seem reasonable (I think about $360 for a 996 steering wheel wrap) and his quality, well, loooked good in the pics! The two donwsides IMHO are (1) he's overworked, so it takes 4 weeks to complete an order, and (2) the concept of taking off my steering wheel, installing a loaner wheel and driving around with it for a month, and then re-installing my own steering wheel, is all a bit disconcerting for an "all-thumbs" guy like me. I'm going to think it over.
