Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi all, could you please state your average fuel consumption of: 1. city 2. highway 3. combined thanks please if it is possible please state if these numbers were taken from the trip computer or thay have been calculated by you... thanks

POST 2Original post

the display on the dash has gotten to 13.2 l/100 kph but that was a lot of highway driving...infact i tried 2 go a whole week with just highway driving..it was fun... on average tho (mostly city, some highway) i'll see 13.6...and that includes some highrevving action..

POST 4Original post

I average 16.1 for city and highway (combined) for the past 3000 miles

POST 5Original post

I get 10.0 l/100 kph on the highway and 17.0 l/100 kph in the city

POST 7Original post

I get 23-24 on the highway; 19-20 combined city highway

POST 8Original post

I usually get about 19-20 MPG on a mix of city and highway driving (actual calculations). Last spring, I took a 700+ mile trip, all interstate at 70-80 MPH and averaged 26.7 MPG (actual calculations). All this in a car that does 0-60 in around 5 seconds and has a top speed of over 170 MPH. There is a lot to be said for low weight and aerodynamics. Is this a great car or what!

POST 9Original post

Pushing it in the city between lights at redline -- 9 to 11 mpg Highway at 80, 90 , 100 -- 18 mpg Highway in 6th gear driving 65 - 70 = 24 mpg As you see this car varies according to how you drive it.

POST 10Original post

cabman4007 is absolutely right - it all depends on how you drive it. When I first got my car, I thought I could actually watch the needle fall as I drove. Of course I was in the "new fast car" mode and kept the revs up most of the time. It was good to get to know the car like that. Now I am much more sedate in general, although I usually try to get the revs up a few times on each drive. There is an amazing difference between 6th gear on the freeway (at least 25 mpg) and in town (I get about 16)

POST 11Original post

My recent experience (Boxster S, 04 Targa, 997S) is all pretty much the same - around 16mpg for my normal mix of around town (freeway and surface) driving. Yesterday I did 4.5 hours mostly freeway L.A. - San Diego - L.A., and got just over 20mpg (mostly freeway but some slowdowns in traffic, and didn't use 6th much).

POST 12Original post

On my 144 mile trip to Sebring this past weekend the trip computer showed 31.2 mpg cruising at 75 mph. Around town I average 21.5 on the computer.

POST 13Original post

31.2!!! That's really good. My experience pretty much mirrors Cabman's.

POST 14Original post

When I purchased my car last spring I drove from Houston to the Bay Area in California. 2,000 miles and the computer showed 25.6 mpg with an average speed of 77 mph. I generally get about 17mpg around town. 99 C2 Cab. Kris

POST 15Original post

Has anyone else never checked their gas mileage? I am on P-car number 3 - '00 Box S, '04 Pepper S, '04 40th Anniv and have never even bothered to check. I'd be disappointed if I did average over 14 mpg, because that would mean I wasn't driving them hard enough. If I drove a Prius or a TDi, maybe I would care.

POST 17Original post

Overall average for the last 8950mi (since May) has been 23mpg at an average speed of 60mph. On road trips not unusuall to see 26-27 Autox it drops to 6 On Track around 10

POST 18Original post

Pushing it in the city between lights at redline -- 9 to 11 mpg If that is actual calculated mileage, you have something wrong with your car or need a new calculator. I CANNOT get less that 15 mpg if I tried and I'm pumping alot more gas than the stock 996 is. I average 16 when driven hard locally, and 27 on highway trips.

POST 19Original post

The 9 to 11 was in Washington DC rush hour traffic which could last 1.5 hrs each way daily. I get this mileage consistantly when in stop and go traffic for more than an hr. The only thing that keeps me sane is the fun I have at lights and at certain intervals on the highway. Our rush hour in the DC area is among the worst in the USA.

POST 20Original post

combined i see 18 mpg. i once saw 19+ mpg while crusing between 95-100 mph for about 3-hrs straight.

POST 21Original post

Just returned from a 4,000 mile trip to Vegas and Tempe. Average speed overall was 82 mph. Normal cruise speed of 91 mph. Got as high as 27.8 mpg during one 370 mile stretch. Lowest was 23.5 going from Denver to Grand Junction. (What a ****ty drive that is) Average for the entire 4,000 miles was a little more than 25.6 mpg. This is the same, if not slightly better than last years trip BEFORE I installed the Supercharger. Believe it or not, my highest avarege was on 90 octane gas. I met with Todd and family in Tempe. Nice operation they have there. They have some awsome cars there too. Everyone was very nice. Dynoed the car and getting an updated program next week.
