Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Loved the rims! Just the standard Carrera C2, but the rims are nicer than I've seen in the last few years, IMHO. http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/91...rrera/gallery/

POST 2Original post

They seem to be getting more ugly ever generation. I guess that what 993 guys think about 996's

POST 3Original post

Im curious with this new engine though... "the GT1 block killer"

yes the engine is what i want, just need one in my 996's engine bay. The only other thing that is of interest is the new awd system, which is much better than mine but the looks are just not worth it. good thing is that the engine bay of the gen 2 997 has plenty of room now, so they can get rid of the bulbous hatch back look and slim it down to what a 911 looks like, hopefully the next gen will do that along with the promised 10% weight reduction. Love the leds but please get rig of those droopy tail lights.

POST 6Original post

The rear lights make me chuckle...I've never seen so many people upset about the shape of lights since Jeep made the Wrangler's headlights square in 1987.

I am not really crazy about the stock wheels on the base Carrera, but the stock wheels (named the Carrera S II) on the Carrera S are MUCH better looking than the fugly Lobster Forks on the 997.1.

^^^ Agreed. I've been trying to imagine what a set of those would look like on my C4S

POST 10Original post

I wonder if you could put the older bumper and lights on it? I would....

POST 11Original post

Now looking at it, I am pretty sure it would be bolt right up....

awww, now we need to do the LED conversion!.... never ends.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rims really look better in person. Either way, I wont be buying one anytime soon!

POST 14Original post

Those wheels look nice and something different, modern but still a little old school, fit a 911. The bigger problem with the tail lights is the reverse/white lights in the middle of the lense, it's not harmonious. They should redesign like the 996 as a strip across the top or bottom and droopy appearance would be lessened. The two-piece block sounds good and I love my Audi DSG and drying to try PDK on 380hp 911, fun!

POST 15Original post

The 996 was the last real Porsche! Just kidding. I drove an 09 997 when they first came out. Great cars. I'm not sure how anyone can think they are ugly.
