Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New info released today on the '06 997 C4S / C4: http://www.germancarfans.com/news.cf...id/2050509.005

POST 2Original post

I'm curious what folks think about the second outlined PSM feature that applies additional force to the brakes when the breakes are applied "quickly but not forcefully".

POST 3Original post

Is it me.....or is that car not appealing at all???

POST 4Original post

It is just you. I like the rear end of the current C4S a lot better though.

POST 5Original post

Are you saying you don't like it? Would you take one if someone gave you one? That, IMHO, is one fine automobile. One reason I backed out on my 997 order last September was the rumor that a 4/4S was coming out w/in the next several months. I'm going to think real serious about getting one of these... Jim

POST 6Original post

i'm with you... Maybe in person in might be a little better, but in terms of styling, I would take the 996 c4s anyday

POST 7Original post

IMHO: Too "plain Jane" for me... Not as visceral and exciting as the 996 C4S... I bet it will be an amazing drive, but it just doesn't appeal to the eye as much as the 996 does.

POST 8Original post

It may not be a 996 C4S rear, but still damn sexy....to me it appears to be lower than the 997, which is good, but may be just the camera angle...but i am sad that the C4 and C4S will look the same, no upgraded suspension, brakes or chassis, but does have a more powerful motor. I wonder whether they will make a 997 variant that will share the turbo chassis, suspension and brakes but will have the 3.8L C2S motor.

POST 9Original post

It may just be the camera angle, but it seems that the big hind-end has sagged!! It has more or a slope than the 996. I'm with you, jeeva. Brakes, chassis and suspension upgrades together with the bigger motor would have been nicer. I guess you can always option them out. This is simply an AWD version of the C2S, rather than the un-turbo version of the TT. Disappointing. It's settled. My next 911 will be a GT3, 997 or 998, whichever is out by the time I can save some money. Or win the lotto.

POST 10Original post

The picture is not at all appealing. My bet is that the car will look awesome in person.

POST 11Original post

Wow, not what I had in mind. I thought the glamour of the 4s was the fact that it shared many components with the Turbo? Never say never, but I would be very, very hesitant to trade my 996 4s in on the 997 4s.

POST 12Original post

it's missing a lot of the things that made the 996 C4S special. The Red Bar across the rear. The MUCH wider stance. Turbo front bumper, not a C2 one. If you take the rear badge off I bet you 99.9% of the people would not be be able to tell it was a C4S, unlike the 996 version... That is just my opinion.

POST 13Original post

It's not you. I can't tell the difference between this car, a standard 997 or a Cayman. Yes, the new Porsche.

POST 14Original post

I absolutely wouldn't turn one down (if presented to me) but I agree on the lack of styling. It's a bit "plain jane" or the lines feel like they don't always flow smoothly and transition gracefully from feature to feature. Looking at the preliminary shots of the Cayman, it looks like they share some styling features (and I'm not a fan of the Cayman styling from all angles). I guess that's it, a 996 C4S "from ALL angles" looks great to me - the new C4S has some "bad" spots. - JMHO Dan

POST 15Original post

It's just OK. I think my 996 C4S just became more valuable as a used car. That's great by me.

POST 16Original post

I'm with you guys, without upgraded suspension, brakes ala turbo, it's just a c4 with a bigger motor. I think I'll keep mine awhile. My next will be a GT3 I think.
