Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2003 911 Carrera - Can a 2003 dual mass fly wheel be resurfaced successfully?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank You, I was concerned as the indy doing the job sounded a little shakey. The machine shop he is sending them to told him they "do it all of the time" That sounds good but doing it all of the time does not always make it right.

On my 2000 the clutch shop said NO so you might check to be sure.

POST 5Original post

I had mine resurfaced about a month ago together with a clutch/pressureplate R+R and it ended up out of balance, resulting in severe shaking above 3.5-4K rpm. I replaced it with a lightweight flywheel. Very happy now. I guess it very much depends on the capabilities of the machine shop that's doing the work. Assuming labor on pulling the transmission again if it turns out the DMF is out of balance, is more than the cost of a new flywheel (especially a good LFWF like AASCO's for $800 bucks), I would not take my chances when faced with the question again.
