After my fly-by encounters yesterday, I drove to Ft. Worth for a friends birthday bash. (BTW, we spent a little time at the Flying Saucer, which is quite nice). Anyway, on the way home (about a 30 minute drive), I was cruising at 75 in 6th when a shiny red Viper passed me. He didn't shoot by me, he just passed me. The V had no bogeys in sight, so I rev matched a down **** to 4th [the only reason I even mention the rev match, is that I'm a newbie to driving the P, and I was a little proud that it actually worked ] When I get beside him I glanced at at the driver - and he looks my way. I just keep beside him for a about 15 seconds. Now we're cruising just under 90, and I'm back in 6th (did I mention that I'm a newbie). He's obviously tired of me, so he hits the gas -> at which time I hear the bone-chilling sound of a BANSHEE WAIL from his exhaust. He just leaves the scene like I was a stock 996 C2 in 6th gear with no get-up-and-go left. So I give a feeble attempt to catch him, but after a few seconds, I realized I didn't have the cajones to hit the speeds needed to match him, so I just gave up on the fast . And to be honest, I kinda lost which tail lights were his. Oh, the wonderfully horrific sound of that Viper pwning me will haunt my dreams... -td ________________________ 2000 996 Silver / Grey - Bone Stock

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

No offense but it's kind of annoying when someone pulls up next to you when you have no intentions of racing...the viper was probably on a Saturday stroll enjoying his car and did that so you wouldn't bother him anymore...
Don't feel bad! He's still driving a Dodge!!
Yes, but a very, very fast Dodge.
No wonder he left the scene quickly
Kind of ironic using "no intentions of racing" and "viper" in the same sentence. I'm sure he got the viper for it's smooth ride and fuel efficiency ;) lol He's gotta expect a little bit of egging on with a car like that. I'm sure everyone on this board has gotten it more than once.
Nice Post. BANSHEE WAIL lol . Porsche turbo vs viper, porsche has no chance mine dynoed bone stock at 445hp 473tq and dont forget power under the curve. Thats like 2 99 911na porsche motors . I can get 20mpg on the highway no problem. The only people that call the Viper just a Dodge haven't driven one. I never wanted one until I got a ride in one the torque is addicting no waiting for the cams to come on and it NEVER stops pulling. Plus a properly setup viper will own just about anything on a race track stock for stock. What does it for me about the Viper and the porsche is that the motors are diferent the sounds they make and the different configurations. v10/h-6. Everyones got a I4, v6 or v8, boring. These cars are not boring in the least. Sean ViperGTS@10psi 656hp 716tq to the tires 02 M3 some mods 99 Ducati looking for 99-02 911 c2 anyone want an M3?
