I have a business trip to Nrnberg in May. Hopefully, I'll have a day of free time when I arrive - so, what's there (besides the track) that is a must see?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thats an easy one. If you haven't been, Rent a car, get up early and hall !@# down the autobahn to the Porsche factory in zuffenhausen. You'll be about 125 miles away. You'll need to call ahead if you want to schedule a factory tour. If you don't call ahead you can still go to the museum. Well worth the effort... All the best, Kevin
Is your trip to Nrburg or Nrnberg?
Oops, typo. Nrnberg, i.e. Nuremberg.
OK, the track is located in the village of Nrburg which is about about 240 miles from Nrnberg. Keep in mind that the track is not open for public every day.

Other things to do while in Nrburg would be to pay Manthey Racing a visit (mind you, they won't let you in to the workshop for a peek if Olaf isn't there and gives a nod), purchase the compulsory Nrburgring + GP track layout sticker (only after driving the Nordschleife, otherwise ), have lunch or dinner at restaurant Pistenklause at Hotel am Tiergarten, visit the racing museum at the GP circuit complex (maybe also have a go in the go karts), buy a box of the local bubbly Adenauer Ordens Kreutz at the liquor shop in Adenau (exellent sparkling wine), drink beer, drink beer and drink beer. If it's your first time then you will have a blast even in a rental diesel VW Golf. Can't wait for my trip to the ring in July!
If you do venture to the track I would close off the evening with a trip and dinner in Trier, a beautiful city with the famous black gate from Roman times. If you do not venture and stay in Nuremberg then visit the old walled in portion, see the castle, maybe the red light area around the wall. If you head to Stuttgart then take a short venture off of A6 onto A7 (by the way A7 is pretty good for high speed driving with less traffic) and go and see one of the prettiest cities in Europe Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Or maybe you can head South to the Alps and see Munich and Garmish. In short there are many things you can do and see with your time and primary interest being your guide. .
Nuremberg has a picturesque fairly large Old Town which is converted into a pedestrian area, so I'd enjoy downtown Nuremberg and take a walk up to the castle (great view over the city). However, if you want to get on the Autobahn with a rental car, then Nuremberg is a great starting point. There are nice Autobahnen in all directions with trips of maybe 1.5h (one way) to get to a nice city. South goes to Munich (I love Munich). This Autobahn is a high speed track! 3-lanes, straight and if you hit it with limited traffic you can go as fast as the car allows. The Autobahn to the East brings you to Regensburg (nice Old Town too); usually not too much traffic which is good! Don't go on the 2 Autobahnen to Hof (north) or Wuerzburg/Frankfurt (north-west) congested and a lot of speed limits. The Autobahn to the west (straight - 2 lanes) brings you to Ansbach and later to Rothenburg (Old Town is loved by American Tourists; you can get there typical German Christmas ball ornaments - year around). What ever you do, May is a great time for the trip! Have fun, drink a German beer in beer garden.
+1 on the downtown Nurnberg....I was there for a week visiting my friend and they have a nice little bavarian restaurant. Its not as authentic as going to Munchen for food and beer but its damn close. Order the schweinshaxe and a nice glass of dunkelweizen......yum Old town Nurnberg is beautiful, it used to be where old Adolf and the **** party used to go to have drunken parties.
Check out that Ring... although I watched that movie and it scared the **** out of me, so beware.
Thanks for all the great feedback guys - much appreciated! I booked my tickets today and am looking forward to the trip.
