Been talking to the wife and looking at getting a Mk1 996. I've got a friend with a 99 with the aero package that I've taken around the track a few times and Its been an incredible car. I've driven 997C4S and been in well, most 911 variants since 99. The wife has asked a few questions like maintenance costs and I have some questions like how easy is it to DIY most of the maintenance. I've read the posts about the RMS and the buyers guide and whatever P car I get will definitely get a PPI but nowhere does anyone(that I can find) talk about regular annual maintenance costs. I expect these to vary greatly across the country but ball park numbers would be nice. The other option is a Cayman. I love the 911 but I really like the looks of the Cayman as well. I currently drive a gen 2 miata which is tracked about 15 days a year. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
