Is Ferrari copying the 996 headlight style on their new car?

The headlights on the new Ferrari, codenamed F149, look very similar to the design of the 996 headlights. In fact, in reviewing the latest issue of Road and Track magazine which gives a sneak preview of future car models, many of the new car models have 996esque headlight designs. The new Ferrari and Maserati design is VERY similar to the 996 design IMHO. I can see it now, in twenty years the 996 front end design will be heralded as “ahead of its time” and a “true classic”. HAHAHA

I think the only similarity is they both emit light.

I can see some similarity - I think there are only so many different ways that you can bend sheet metal and shape plastic and thats why its rare to see something rare! How profound I am today

I don't think it is that similar. I must say though, that the MKII 996 lights have really grown on me...I actually think I like the looks of the late model headlights better than those on the 997....

The F car lights are a retro of their old 250 Gt (Ferris Bueller car). I seriously doubt many would copy the 996 headlights.

I like the 997 lights the best to be honest, but the lights on my 02 have really grown on me and I even liked the look of the old Litronics on my Boxster S I can see how the Ferrari has a slightly similar shape to the 996 lights

I do not think they look the same.

They don't look that much alike, but I can see whereby they might share a similar heritage. As for the 996 lights, I've always liked them. The 997 is nice also, but from certain angles, it can definitely be 'related' to the VW Beetle. It's worth mentioning that I like my headlights like my eggs...fried.
