Guys, I just went to a ghetto welding shop and did the 2.5" PSE hack. I am afraid there might be leaks. Anyway, I only have a K&N drop in filter with PSE hack. It's a carrera 2 3.6. Inputs would be appreciated!!! Btw, I have a tiptronic so I can't go beyond 4k.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think it sounds pretty good. What do you think about the sound. DO you like it better than stock?
Cool sound, but did anyone notice the tip on one side moved up and on the other moved down when he hit the gas =)

probably due to inertia created by flywheel
Sure sounds better than stock!
Sounds much quieter than than my PSE
Here's my take on the whole PSE mod thing if you're going to sound half **** PSE, then why bother at all? Why not just save your hard earned $ and get the real deal? It'll never sound like the real PSE and the PSE is by far the best sounding exhaust on the n/a 996. It's got this guttural from the bowels gurgle that no other aftermarket exhaust or stock can tinkering will completely replicate and not getting there 100% is not a "win". i'd argue that the PSE on the 3.6 nonGT1 engine car is the best sounding period for the whole 996 lineup. and i think it sounds better than the n/a 997s (non GT1, haven't heard it enough to really judge). here's a vid that captures the authentic PSE sound the best for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jaDBhmGNC0 P.S. That wing looks crazy dude

Ben I am so sorry but I have to disagree with you here. Tubi sounds much better than PSE on a N/A 996. In regards to us that have done the MKII mod, it isn't about trying to duplicate the PSE, we know we cannot duplicate the sound exactly. It's about getting a better sound out of a simple and in-expensive modification. The MKII mod is truly a mod when you think about it. It's not a part you buy off the shelf or from a website. Sure it maybe similar to something else, but that's OK in my books. We all know that if we want to spend gobs of money on an exhaust note we can, but why should we especially when there is no power gain. Am I happy with my MKII mod, the answer is a big yes. Am I ever going to say it sounds as good or better than a PSE, no. It's a mod, a hack, or whatever you want to call it, but it isn't PSE that we can agree on.
BTW...pekopeeus, sound good After a few weeks it will start to sound even better and going through tunnels is a blast, put the windows down and give it some revs

here's where you and i will agree to disagree? tubi sounds like any other porsche aftermarket exhaust out there. it lacks again that guttural from the porsche gut noise of the pse. same goes for awe. sure the tinkering around gets you more noise, but it's like coming in any place other than 1st. forgetful.
