i live in highland park (dallas) and was driving down preston road today. two HP police officers were pointing a rather strange looking radar gun at oncoming traffic. my valentine 1 (up to date version) did not make a beep. i drove back and forth a few times, but still no sounds. is there something new out there that we don't know about? ??? 03 AS C4s
Maybe it was just a normal gun, and if they thought you were speeding they would just shoot you!!! Talk about a speed deterrent...
Why don't you email or phone Valentine 1 and ask them? They should know, and I'd be interested in their response.
Can you describe the "strange looking" radar gun? You said it was two officers... did they both have a unit or were they both holding one large unit?
Probably laser. The aiming accuracy is critical, and unless you are directly in the beam, your detector won't make a peep!
I recently read that in some Eastern states, esp on I-80, cops are wearing camo and sitting in the woods just off the expressway with radar. They instant on you and then radio ahead. I guess it is catching on with the state troopers in other states so beware. Bobby
Interesting as my V1 hasn't beeped more than 3 times in the last 12 months! All I've gotten were some errant laser readings outside shopping centers and behind GM SUV's. I even drove by one of those "Your current speed is" things that the cops set up and it didn't make a sound. And I'm sure those things don't use a new frequency. I even run mine on the most sensitive setting. I should probably call Valetine?
Go on the CGT forum and ask Mike Valentine-he's usually on there quite often.
LanceK, your V1 is not running right. Those "You Speed Is" thingies should give you a warning from a long ways off.
