Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, I'm somewhat new to the dark side here and I've been trying to learn a bit as I go about Porsches. I see a lot of discussion regarding M030 suspensions...i.e. US vs ROW. Could someone quickly educate me? First of all, what suspension does my '02 c4s have? What is the difference between the M030 suspension and that of a regular stock C2? What suspension does the Turbo have? What's the dif. betw. US and ROW M030? Also, I feel ashamed for asking...Does my C4S have the same brakes and suspension as the 996TT? I always thought it to be the case but never knew for sure. That was the case with the 993 C4S and 993TT, right? Also, I hear a bit about an X71 suspension or something like that. Anyway, that's a lot of questions. In my independent search for info, I get misleading and confusing answers. Your help would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Both C4S and Turbo come standard with respectively calibrated M030 sport chassis. The equivalent ROW M030 sport suspension will lower either car by ~20 mm in front and ~10 mm at rear. The standard brakes are the same on the C4S and Turbo. The X73 suspension lowers the US car by ~40 mm in front and ~30 at rear. This is quite a bit firmer and more aggressive than the ROW M030.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks Viken. Next question... When you say "respectively calibrated", I'm assuming that any difference between the C4S and TT M030 suspensions is there to accomodate the increased weight of the Turbo, correct? Is any of the difference there to give the TT "better" handling characteristics than its cheaper cousin? I guess what I'm wondering is how the C4S and the standard TT compare in terms of handling and braking. Power is the obvious difference. But, with basically the same suspension (but altered for weight difference) and the lesser weight of the C4S, shouldn't the C4S be the better handling car? I realize it may be a negligible difference, but theoretically, am I correct in thinking that this may be the case. Similarly, with the same brake package (leaving the PCCB to another conversation), shouldn't the C4S's lighter weight theoretically make it the better "braking" of the two? Just trying to educate myself and see what's sittin' in the garage...

POST 4Original post

Yes. And, the C4S is a much better package in terms of handling and braking as you guessed. Better balance and smoother power delivery. Furthermore, a mere mortal like most of us, can carry a lot more speed through turns in a C4S than a Turbo. This was also the case with the 993's.
