Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been going through allot of waiting after the accident that wrecked my 996. Hopefully by tommorow I'll know whether this car can finally come home with me. I really like the 19's.

POST 2Original post

Love it! Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully you'll have in your garage soon!

mmmmm? Does that mean tasty? I'm fickle, I think I'm going to buy an air cooled 82 sc instead of this black techno beauty. I'm breaking off the engagement Ivangene has to tell me if I'm going nuts to do this, but something he said about his air cooled the other day just made me consider another early porsche. also. I have the habit of wanting the most expensive thing in front of me instead of giving it time or god forbid buying something less expensive. this car is solid and quick enough and maybe my accident was a way of telling me that maybe I'm not ready for 996 responsiblity in terms of speeding. Although the car I'm looking at is not as fast as my beloved 996 maybe I'll stay alive to enjoy a more advanced porsche someday.

Nice Porsche, except for those headlights...what were they thinking? Actually, that 911 looks perfect. GL

POST 11Original post

dude.... that's a beauty!! you would not be disappointed...what a car but it's no aircooled car, which is good....and bad - it will be a tad "better" than the 996 a bit more refined, probably drive about the same, be great everyday and overall wonderful...but if you have the itch to spend your weekends chasing electrical issues, rough running problems, leaks, worn parts, and be a little funny smelling when you arrive to work, that's not the car for you.... an AC Porsche is seriously a lot of work....they are old and need things...but they give you something back that IMO cannot be had in a newer car. As much as i love and lust for those new cars I am equally turned off by the "refinements" and "luxury" the added weight, added nanny features and the overall package. the other day I came to a realization what was so "off" on the GTR I drove...(man what a car!!) but its HUGE and its completely electronic - its like techno music -vs- RUSH 2112 (or any other Rush, Led Zeppelin, Floyd song....) there just isnt any connection between the drums and the heart...between the strings and the soul...the keys and the spirit.... yea you can dance your *** off and get all sexed up...but it all sounds the same and well...is all the same, boring If I could have one in the garage would I turn it down...HELL NO!! they are awesome cars, in fact way better then my car in SOOO many ways.... if I had to give up the AC to get it....I dont think it would ring my bell loud enough for that - It would be like not having AC/DC anymore...a bit of a hole just that I know myself enough to realize that what I drive IS me....its not flashy, its not refined, its not fast, not even very desirable to a large % of people, old outdated, but man - we fit like hand and glove... search your own self...who are you - then buy the car if that is you....dont listen to me...listen to yourself and YOU will end up the happiest! either way THAT is one hot car (love the stitching)

With that info above Ed I've decided to reconfigure my Porsche, 3 cylinders air/oil cooled, and 3 water cooled. That way I can get the smell and sound from half my engine and the improvements and lower emissions from the other half. I can purchase all the parts I need from your stash of water and air cooled Porsches and end of with the best of both worlds.

LOL you guys are great. Ed you are a very good writer and I understood every word you said. This car is so beyond anything that I thought I would ever own, that I'm sort of buying it for my future. It's to expensive (main reason why the aircooled 911 appealed to me.) Ed, the car I was looking at and almost bought is a 82 911sc coupe. a virtual time capsule with 60,000, full leather interior(dash, doors) cold ac electric windows and seats alpine cd original porsche carpets. Just unbelievable. ( if anyone is wondering why no link let's just say I might have a plan for this car.)

POST 14Original post

pics of SC LOL @ Steve....yup....a 3 wet/ 3 dry motor - someone should make an "app" for that

POST 15Original post

Buddy did they "total" your car or is it being fixed?

POST 17Original post

seriously.... what Ed is really saying is that, you really need both air and water cooled cars.

If you look very closely at the pass. side wing there is a very faint dimple right above the top of the wheel.

Sweet looking 997! IMO nothing beats a black car but it is without question the hardest color to keep pristine. Hope you get it, beautiful car! Looks well kept but a bit surprised at the engine bay. An area most dealers don't spend any time on when detailing the car. I am at 97K and the engine bay looks like it's new . Just a peeve of mine... Even my Silverado engine is spotless! Cheers, Tom
