Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Why does my radio make shortwave noises when I turn the engine off?? Am I getting signals from Alpha Centauri?

POST 2Original post

Do the noises come through the speakers with the radio on, with it off, or both? [If it happens all the time, you have a blackberry in your car ] -td

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It only happens once out of 3 or 4 times when I turn the ignition off. The radio stays on for about 5 seconds, and there are strange shortwave sounds coming over the speakers. I don't have a Blackberry or any other PDA. Maybe there's a cellphone tower nearby???

POST 4Original post

You're being bugged. There's a transmitter in the car.

POST 5Original post

What year is your car? I did not have intergalactic aural feedback, but I had gremlins in my 03 Boxster's radio namely clicking noises from inside the radio with occassional ignition shutoff or even sometimes opening the door would trigger it. After several trips to dealer it was faulty head-unit. If it is a CDR23 perhaps it is also the headunit. Good news if still under warranty, if not there are always new ones offered on ebay.

+1 Or you may have a transmitter controlled bomb in you car (I've seen this in many movies so it must be true ). Are you a member of the mob? Does your spouse want you dead? (jk of couse)

gw, I have the same issue in my 02C4S. never was sure what is was and I guessed it was the immobilizer getting ready to set ?? Now I wonder if it is the Lojack alarm in my car?? demosan

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't have Lojack, so it must be the OEM alarm.... The strange thing is, it only does it 1 out of 3 times that I turn the ignition off.
