Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Fellow Porsche fanatics, I need some help from all of you. I am in a predicament right now, Should i buy an extended warranty for my 1999 c2 cab w/52k miles for $3810 for 4yr/48k with $200 deductible... or should i save miles/gas on my car and buy a used commuter 4cyl car to drive to work everyday and leave my baby at home for weekends and random sunny days Any help would be greatly appreciated... p.s. any 996 or 997 from Orange county california in here???

POST 2Original post

Even though my car is still under warranty, I got a beater car because we have terrible parking at work (outside, trees, ets.) and I don't want to put a lot of miles on the car in traffic, commuting to the office.

POST 3Original post

If your drive to work includes any opportunity to have a little fun with the car then I vote for the warranty - life is not a dress rehearsal. Barry

but i drive like 60 miles per day round trip.... What are the main things i should worry about on my car going wack, besides an engine blow up?

POST 5Original post

Worry about nothing drive hard and enjoy. If something is gonna happen outside of routine maintenance there is nothing you can do. We bought these cars to drive them right? Happy motoring

I'll answer your question indirectly. I absolutely detest commuting in a 911. Feels absolutely wrong. Of course, that depends on the kind of commute one faces! If yours is not the stop and go hell of Chicago for over an hour, then maybe you should consider the warranty. Consider the math: You drive 60 miles per day, which means 800 days of hopefully fun commuting (during which your warranty is in-force) which translates into roughly $4.76 per day for the extra fun you get to have in a 911 versus a beater. You decide

love the avatar chicago. anyway, back on topic, i say get the warranty and drive it everywhere. you only live once, and otherwise you will regret it someday, not to mention you will feel bad every time you see smeone else driving their eleven.

Get both... And the beater in the form of a little pick-up or SUV. I kept my old Ford Exploder (which BTW I bought at a Ford dealership )for the yucky weather days. Especially here in Los Angeles, since when it rains you get a bunch of morons out there that enjoy bumping into your car... Don't mind getting my car dirty in the rain but just hate being around these freaking idiots.
