996 tiptronic. Why when in auto mode if give it full throttle (at interstate cruise )it downshifts but stays in 3rd or 4th (sometimes only)? I put it in manual and shift up into 5th with no problem. It runs great and auto transmission is awesome for daily driver. Has this happend to your tiptronic? It has been serviced within last 15000 miles. Fluid level? Sensor? It wants to be driven in manual ? Any ideas? Thank you. Regards,

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Transmission program. It holds the lower gear for a long period of time because it thinks the stab of the throttle indicates you need the power.
It "thinks" you are racing. It is beneficial on an auto-x or track where you need the revs to stay high for acceleration.
