Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Turket Day Triva! PLEASE PM ME ANSWERS: 1st - 3 people to PM me the answer to this trivia question will receive a free Sig. (I am only offering 3)... The Hint: In the early versions on this car, this 2.1 litre engined machine dominated the 1976 and 1977 World Championship For Manufacturers in the hands of the factory team. In the latter part of 1977, Norbert Singer (the Porsche factory team's chief engineer) was present at a meeting of the FIA Technical Commission. BMW were asking the FIA if they could be permitted to cut the side panels of their front-engined car to allow the exhaust through. After some discussion, it was agreed that this amendment could be made to counteract the advantage enjoyed by rear-engined vehicles. Singer realised at that moment that this amendment had created a potential "loophole" that could be exploited for their 1978 car. They were already planning a lighter aluminium-framed "Baby" with a more powerful 3.2 four valve six cylinder engine. If it was now permissible to cut the panels to allow the exhaust through, the car could in fact be made lower by 8 or 10 cm. This would create a car perfect for the high-speed straights at Le Mans. While there were a few engineered iterations of the car, the final version with a very long profile (developed by Singer himself at Porsche's wind tunnel), later brought much contraversy to the FIA about it's shape. With results of 8th overall in the 1978 LeMans and 1st place at the 6 hours of Silverstone, the car proved to be one of the greatest race cars developed by Norbert Singer and Porsche. The Question: What factory designation of this race car AND what is the famous nickname it has? Good luck.

Quotes source post: 4809283

#1 - no #2 - are you referring to the ugly rear bumper duck wings? - no #3 - I'm thinking about it #4 - I think that the contrasting black looks better on a white car.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 4809318

Your suggestions are duly noted. I think that tints might be next if I decide to do something.

POST 23Original post

Wayne - the sig looks good! Considering the background color you selected, I would say your next Porsche will be Blue. There is still hope for you! Actually, if I ever get another Porsche, it will probably be White!

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 4810259

Thanks! It took way longer than I'd like to admit and more time than I should have wasted on it this afternoon.... it was a nice relaxing project though. Blue and green are my favorite colors. It's not a stretch to imagine me in cars of those colors. White is a really nice car color - I would never had realized that before this car. It's nice to see so many white cars showing up here.

POST 26Original post

Oh man its only me left here when it comes to a special sig! I will fix one soon by myself its gonna be a blast!
