Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an opportunity between 2 996 cabs in milwaukee. A 1999 cab with 16500 miles delivery date 5/99 vin no wbola2993xs654948 owner did an first service 5/99 and not again this is documented untill 13500 miles in 6/03. I spoke to him and he said he had car in CA most of time only used it 3k miles a year or so had no problems of any type traded for new turbo. Is there a problem with this 99 in service date ie is it a problem prone early manufacture date, is the 1 oil change at 13500 a potential problem for future, I asked him before i saw the service book . the dealer will take i believe 46k or so for the car. should the extended warantee 2yr. be a must in this type of car. My second choice is a 2001 cab with 24k miles with a transferable 100k or 2 yr. porsche orrig warantee goes to 12/05,car was local and serviced a a second dealer dont have a firm price but hope to be able to purchase for 57500 or so any advice would be most appreciated need to complete on of these my this wed thanks are these prices in order with your experience

POST 2Original post

An oil change is really needed once a year regardless of how few miles are driven. The oil gets contaminated and has to be changed. I would be worried about the long term reliability of the engine on that one. I wouldn't pay over $40K for it. There are lot's of 99's for sale these days. Find a better one. The 2001 sounds better to me.

If possible, try to get a 2002 up. They are totally different and much improved. Much more comes standard.
