Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket GT3 components? I'm particularly interested in the Aero Kit 1 front bumper and the Aero Kit 2 rear spoiler. I've seen many of these front bumpers that are flexible plastic and some are either fiber glass or carbon fiber. I would think that the plastic is better in that the paint won't chip as easily and it's more like the factory piece. I've been looking around at the components on Performance Products and noticed theirs are fiber glass or CF while others sell the plastic. They also have a variation of the GT3 front bumper that looks nice from the minimal pictures they have (poor sales technique IMO) but it's fiberglass. Anyone have this bumper or better pictures of it? They also have a fiber glass GT3 Aero 2 rear spoiler. Aren't the factory rear spoilers metal? Are the fiberglass ones cheap? What does everyone else make theirs out of? Thanks, Nazz

POST 2Original post

I believe the porsche one is glass as well. Just be careful with the quality of some of these aftermarket lookalikes. You may have to go through a few first, but it will be worth it the oem kits are just too overpriced.

POST 3Original post

the factory aerokits pieces(front bumper, rear spoilers, and side skirts) are made of polyurethane. i've heard fiberglass is a much cheaper alternative and that is why the aftermarket kits use them. however, it is more difficult for prep & paint on the fiberglass pieces so just be sure you're dealing with a reputable body shop AND remind them that it's fiberglass, not polyurethane. the GT2 & GT3 spoilers may have metal in them, i'm not sure

POST 4Original post

The factory front/rear bumpers are polyurethane (so they can flex when you do some bad parking). The decklid and rr spoiler are fiberglass.

POST 5Original post

The C4S aerokit is 100% fiberglass, decklid, spoiler, lip, brake cover and all. I had the set in my hands last week, all 6,000$ of it!

POST 6Original post

Nazz, I agree with Surgeon and Lizard. The aftermarket pieces are not worth the upfront savings. The fit and finish are not like the factory. The paint shop will have to charge you for the extra prep they will need before painting. As for the fit, some gaps will be good others too wide or to narrow. I just had the complete factory aerokit 1 with GT rear trims painted and installed. I shopped around for about 4 months and bought the factory pieces individually. Still saved a couple of grand.

Where did you buy them? Thanks, Nazz

OME: Deck lid and side skirts are glass. The front end is poly. The chin spoiler os a poly and is a tear away. If you car is lowered and you track the car, be carefull to check it before lapping. If there is any light between the spoiler and the car reset it. If you do not it will go away. I have had two peel off at about 145. One was cut in half by the guy behind me the other was recovered with min. damage. Porsche sells replacements @ $400 US. The racers group has them for less then $200.
