Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi all, I recently bought, second hand, a subwoofer unit for my 01 black interior car. BOSE subwoofer unit was taken from a grey interior of an 04 4S. my car has CDR-22 with dash front and normal rear spekers...i.e no door speakers at all. i did install the subwoofer unit, i did connect it with a 2 channel kenwood 2X100 WRMS unit and i must say that the sound is phenomenal for the price of course. total amount spent up to now (will quote number in US Dollars): BOSE subwoofer unit $150 Kenwood amp unit $200 intallation $100 ($50 hardware + $50 carpet grey to black) TOTAL $450 wich to be honnset is amazing. currently (an propably forever) i am not using rear speakers at all so fader is all front. there is no need to state each one of you what i could have done.... what i am trying o say it that i am 300% satisfied for what i have at the moment-having in mind how much i should have spent in order to install a set of speakers, subwoofer, door interior panels, etc....

POST 2Original post

Good for you Harris......What is important is that you are satisfied with your project and that you were kind enough to share it with us...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i did tha mainly for 2 reasons....: 1. it is good to read some posts that are not negative to our love...996 (usually posts are about probs) 2. i thought i should say this with the "cheap" stereo equipmement since there is no really need in spending astronomical amount of money for stereo upgrades... it is good that my post has that effect on you,

POST 4Original post

I think the stock Bose system is pretty good in sound output and general reproduction. It's better than my parent's E class Bose system. As a stock stereo, it's one of the best I've heard. Glad you are happy with the add on. Time to get your door spkrs setup as they do help imaging the sound properly.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

bose sound system is indeed one of the best i have heard.....( you should have in mind that 911 are the most difficult cars to built high end audio systems.....due to cabin and door design..... mine is not the bose system...... i do not think i will be going for the doors...... it is enough for what i have spend.... this is what i am trying to say and suggest to other rennlisters.....

POST 6Original post

Great to hear you had such good results. Do you have any pics of your set-up? I'm thinking about doing a similar set-up, where did you place the sub-woofer? and what model Bose and Kenwood did you go with?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

set up looks totally stock. this is because amplifier is placed where Original Porsche amp is, i.e. front luggage comp. subwoofer unit is taken from an 04 , which means it is original equpment. it fits perfectly at that gap which is formed by the rear seats and the engine interior cover.... bose model is not known, but is original equpment. amp is Kenwood KAC-718 head unit is BECKER CDR-22 everything else is stock. it is intersting because, i bought by chance the subwoofer. i had originally post a thread, where to find iterior door panels with speakers, in order to built up my own stereo. i couldn't find any within 5 months now....(luckilly) and i got the subwoofer unit on e-bay couple of months ago. it was delivered to me and it was sitting in my garage, having in my mind that i should look forinterior door panels.suddenly one day when a friend of mine who likes stereo equipement...saw the subwoofer and within few minutes he did take off the CDR-22, RCA connected it with the KENWOOD amp, and wired that to the BOSE subwoofer, just to listen to it before doind anything else.wires at first were just connected, and no carpet or any other stuff was taken off in order to place everything in place..... we were both pleased from the quality of sound up to 28-29 out of 40 degrees on the stereo...... every one should at least try that......before upgrading and spending money....
