Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

73 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was driving back from the store on Sunday and noticed a 996 Carerra with a poser badge. Might as well put GT3 on it... Please, stop the posing. And your new improved badge is not even centered. -td

POST 3Original post

we have grammar ***** on the forum so why not badge *****? maybe the S is for supercharged.

POST 4Original post

Well, the "carrera" is centered... With my vinyl cutter, I should make "Carrera XYZ" or something.

*sigh* You must be OK with the type of stuff below. Why not just put a "Porsche" badge on a Kia. Not fooling anyone...

POST 6Original post

I've never really understood why people do this. I've actually seen cars listed for sale that don't really exist - things like a 1999 Carrera S. If I weren't happy with my choice of car, I'd favor a badge delete over a fake.

POST 7Original post

hope he didnt recently buy a "Carrera S" from "Jim Bobs used Sports Cars - where all of our quality cars are always covered our inhouse warranty!!! "Now this is the Carrera S....you do want the "S" model dont you... I mean, you are the type of guy that wants the "S" which means "Sport" - you realize these are highly sought after and hold premium resale...we can get one for you, yes...we have "connections" but you have to act fast! - In house financing is no problem, come on down"

POST 9Original post

I always liked Mercedes and BMWs when the owners removed the specific model badges. When I lived in Germany in the 80s and 90s this was far more popular. At first I assumed that people were buying the lesser-priced cars and removing the badges to conceal the real truth. What I learned was that the opposite was more often the case... owners, particularly those in management positions, removed the badges so that their neighbors and employees would not know that they had actually bought the really expensive V12 model. In this specific case I think the owner of the not-S is just an idiot.

POST 10Original post

If you think this is bad, you should see the Mercury Capri roadster with the Porsche side stripe seen at golf league. I wish I had a picture to post. I'm not sure who he's trying to fool. Maybe himself.

POST 12Original post

says the guy with the speedster replica! haha

POST 13Original post

His left exhaust tip is not aligned too... lol What takes the cake is the amount of BMW's that have M badges on them...

POST 14Original post

I think worse yet is when a Honda has a BMW M badge on it!

I have seen WAAAAY WORSE.... I present to you the $9,995 BMW 745LI....

I'm looking for a 'V12' badge for the back of my Boxster. Sincerely, Macster.

POST 19Original post

or maybe this could just be a touch worse....

POST 20Original post

From the Fort Deven's Auto Cross. I took this picture because I couldn't believe it existed.

POST 22Original post

I believe this beautiful 959 Cabriolet may be available too...

POST 24Original post

My first car was a 1965 Pontiac Tempest. I put a Mack Truck hood ornament on it. I guess that was wrong.

POST 34Original post

There's subtle cheating and then there's "obfuscation" ... (sorry I didn't get the whole car, my camera seized at this point)

POST 35Original post

Quotes source post: 8972495

I'm not saying I condone it or that I'd do it myself but I'm not sure I'd call them out on a message board either. lol Besides, some of the other pics in this thread (e.g., the Accord with the BMW badging) are far worse. What I don't understand is, if someone is going to badge their C2 incorrectly, why not go whole hog and badge it as a GT3 or a Turbo? You know maybe the owner couldn't afford the extra letters and they went with the "S" because it was cheaper. See, don't you feel bad for them now? Wondering...what are your thoughts on this one? http://www.rufbug.com/gallery/ -Eric

POST 42Original post

Get a life...do you have any fake lable brand stuff in your possession, have you ever pretended to be someone your are not, or lie. All just the same....Chill man. I don't condone it but starting a thread here is a joke.

I just don't get why no one is commenting about the very obviously fake Mercedes hood ornament he's glued beneath his right taillight......

POST 44 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

*sigh* Indeed, it's called humor. Pointing out that people will do things to their cars that make others laugh is funny. If you don't find it funny, you can simply not respond. Wait, hold on, let me fix your statement. There, done. Next. -td

Adding an an "S" or fake badge is kind of like wrapping something in vinyl carbon fiber print when it's really just metal or plastic.

POST 56Original post

I think it's okay when you make the car the same or better than the one being copied, but when it's just emblems it's funny because either they don't know their car is fake or they think someone else is going to be fooled.

A carbon wrapped 996 qualifies as posing, no? It's still a free country, nothing wrong with doing what you want.
