Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an annoying rattle coming from the passenger side of my 2004 996. Sitting there when somebody else is driving I still have a hard time figuring out where it's coming from, but seems to generally be the seatbelt mechanism on the pillar, although it could possibly be from the door as well. Any usual suspects to look at, or just pull the paneling off and see what's loose?

POST 2Original post

Same issue. I've tried several times to locate - I think it might be in the airbag. Possible?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Could very well be. I can't conclusively nail it down.

POST 4Original post

My drivers side airbag vibrates as a result of the speaker in the door. Drives me freaking nuts!!

POST 5Original post

I had a bad rattle when the 4S was fairly new. It ended up being inside the driver's door. There is a sliding piece of metal which holds the door fully open or half open which "retracts" into the door when it is closed. Mine was too close to some metal in the interior of the door and would vibrate against it, metal to metal. I hope this helps!
