Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got back from a long weekend of driving to the Ring, round the Ring and back home again with a group of fellow Porsche owners, and have to say what an experience that was. Took my 2001 Carrera 4 round the full 13.7 mile circuit a few times and the highlight must have been seeing two BMW M3's trying to keep up through the twisty sections, but unfortunately one underestimated the 996's handling and going off into the barrier! If any of you get the chance to take your car round the Ring you will be smiling for days after the trip. Ollie

POST 2Original post

What kind of lap time did you all have? I ask because the new 160 HP BMW motorcycle (K12S) did a lap in 7:53. Steve 99 996

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Steve I never thought to try and time it as I couldn't get a reference for the start and finish of the lap as it is not continuous, but we hooked up with a group of fast bikes in the first third of the lap and took them through the twisty sections around the circuit. They made it back past me when we all entered the finish straight though!!! The only thing that came by all of us was the ring taxi and the dodge viper race car. Ollie

POST 4Original post

UberXY, Do you know of any more lap times in the ring by sportbikes, specially the likes of the open-class inline-4's, like the GSX-R1000, R1 or ZX-10R?

POST 5Original post

Carlos Try looking at http://www.nordschleife.no/ If you ever get a chance to see Daehne's 7.49 lap on an RC 30 its well worth it. Tom

POST 6Original post

Thanks Tom, I keep up with that site but the bikes they have are outdated or amateur laps. I think a current openclass on street tires could get close to 7:30 with a ring-experienced driver. Imagine if Daehne, the "king of the ring", would give it a try with a current bike
