Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I had a very close encounter with a deer driving home from a New Year's Eve party. I swirved hard to avoid her but I was on a mountain side going about 40MPH. She just clipped my rear quarter panel, and I mean just, because the damage was minimal. If it wasn't for the C4's handling and some quick reflexes this could have been so much worse. I'll bring it to Porsche on Monday and have them pull out the dent and see what they can do for that scratch. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Rob

POST 2Original post

I killed a bird last week, doing 140km/hr.. in my pathfinder, luckily i decided to keep the porsche that day! am so sorry for the bird waz

POST 3Original post

Deer's need to learn to take a cab if they have been drinking! Seriously that sucks man. You are lucky, it apears to be minimal damage.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If I hadn't taken serious counter measures that deer would have been in my engine... this was a big one too, it would have caused major damage.

POST 5Original post

Riad: Do you know about paintless dent removal? Last winter a deer bounced off my '02 cab and dented the front panel below light and passenger door (his wiskers were in the door handle!) but did not compromise the paint. There's a Dent Doctor in Leonia NJ who got out the dents for about $700. You cannot tell the car was hit. The key is whether paint has been scratched. His number is in information or else send me a PM and i'll be able to e-mail the info to you on Sunday.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Speed, Thanks for the info... unfortunately there is a light scratch too. I was hoping they could compound out the scratch. The dent is definitely superficial and can be pulled out with no after effects. I'll see what my guys at Porsche say, if it's ridiculous I'll take a look at dent doctor. Thanks! Rob

POST 7Original post

Wow, you are very lucky. A lesser car (and driver) and you might be talking to your insurance company about totalling it. Good luck with the dent/scratch repair and congrats on your driving skills...

POST 8Original post

Glad you are ok and car is only minimally injured. I just hope no one starts one of those..."we are being insensitive to the possibly injured deer threads"! good luck on the repair!

POST 9Original post

Even if there is a scratch they will be able to take care of it. If there is a paint chip or metal is exposed, that is a different story. Go to the dent removal place, they can take that sucker out with no problem. Your insurer will raise the rate on you if you claim it so that is my 2 cents. Bobby

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No insurance claim on this one... too small. I'll give them a buzz at Dent Dr. I really don't want anyone to ask if the deer was OK. I have a 400ft driveway and my wife almost hit a deer in our driveway... damn. If she would have hit it, we'd have a freezer full of meat. Rob

POST 11Original post

Not true. Getting hit by a deer is non-fault; has no effect on insurance rate. In fact, today my driver's side door was severely dented when an unkown someone in a parking lot backed into it. when I made the claim to Geico they specifically told me it would not affect my rate because it was not my fault.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah that's right. Last year I avoided someone swirving into my lane and caught a 4" curb that took out my left front radiator. Geico told me the same thing. My deductable is $500 so this little dent isn't worth it. Bummed to hear about your door, people suck. Any chance the parking lot had surveilance cameras? Rob

POST 13Original post

..."we are being insensitive to the possibly injured deer threads"! no, really......... Speaking of deer, I had a black bear run right in front of my while I was blasting up my driveway at dusk one evening. I couldn't have missed him by more than a foot. I don't know which one of us was more startled.......
