Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just returned from a business trip to find that my C4S has gone into 'sleep mode'. Nothing unusual there, but the key won't open the door so I can reset! I've tried all 3 keys. They turn left and right but do not engage the lock. I called porsche assistance but they couldn't help!! It looks like it needs to get towed to a dealer on Monday, but they are not sure how they are going to get into the car. Has anyone experienced this? Any clues?

POST 2Original post

I thought the key turning the lock is a mechanical thing and the whole idea behind having the car go into sleep mode so you could still get in. Hate to ask stupid questions, but are you sure the keys don't work??? According to the manual even if you have a completely FLAT battery you open the door via the keylock and put the jumpers on the fuse box to get the trunk open. At least that is how mine is supposed to work??

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I am sure. That's the problem, the mechanical bit isn't working which makes me wonder how they are going to get into the car. I fear this could be a major issue. I've tried all three keys and no joy....

POST 4Original post

What year is your car? There is a cable that can be accessed to open the bonnet (hood) so don't worry...they won't have to break the glass to get in. see here: link1 Link 2

thanks guys. quite a drama, they couldn't even tow the car because it was all locked up. eventually they worked out that the locking mechanism had failed, they got in through the remote release and finally fixed the locking mechanism and all working now. interesting - they has 3 guys come out, including a porsche master technician and they couldn't get in! pretty steal proof - I guess that's why they car jack!
