My key went through a wash cycle in my shirt pocket and after drying the circuit (the seals allowed some moisture in) it works intermittently, the circuit has a problem but the transponder seems fine. The head comes with the circuit board inside and a new transponder glass/crystal. I've been told that some folks managed to purchase just the shell, but Porsche sells it as a single part.
