Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Just thought I'd say hi. I just closed on my first Porsche earlier today and I'm pretty pumped about it. It was a pretty sweet deal with less than 30k miles and under $35K. I'm planning on getting an extended warranty to ward off any disasterous repairs (which are unlikely - I hope). Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Thanks, Tim

POST 2Original post

Congrats, what are the details on the car you purchased?

POST 3Original post

Congrats...my only suggestion is to post a pic of your new 996!!! The fun is just about to start for you AK

1999 Carrera Black / Black 29,000k miles I'm pretty excited. I've wanted one since I was about 8 years old.

POST 5Original post

Very nice my friend. Congrats!! It's a very special vehicle, but I think you know that

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll get some pictures up this weekend. I'm picking the car up on Friday (I've got to go out of town on business tomorrow). I can't wait for the weekend!!

Congrats and welcome! If you are looking for aftermarket warranties, I would suggest if you can find a place locally, as you may be able to get better rates/more coverage. However, if you can't, there are national warranty companies such as Warranty Direct and 1 Source Auto Warranty, which I've heard good things about (through research on the web). One last thing... get some pics up!

I think I've found one. Its for 4 years or until the odo reads 75k for $2200. Bumper to bumper coverage. The website was http://aaaautowarranty.com/ . The finance manager at the dealership where I bought the car contacted a local Porsche dealership and I'm going to talk with them tomorrow. I'll check out warranty direct. I've had pretty good luck with extended warranties. I had one for my old Land Rover and it easily paid for itself.

POST 9Original post

I am newbie to this forum, but have ben driving porsches off and on for 30 years. i never considered buying an extended warranty until i read the about the RMS issues. i have a 996 and Boxster and all of a sudden, i'm scared to death. Does anyone have opinion on the best place to purchase a plan?

POST 10Original post

ekename - be sure to read the "fine print" when a warrnty says bumper to bumper. There are many plans out there claiming to offer bumper-to-bumper coverage, but few can actually claim true coverage. Just a FYI
