Recently I have noticed that my clutch seemed to be getting worn. My 1999 C2 (48k miles) clutch pedal did something very weird today. It was always a hard clutch to press down.....so much so that when I would drive another manual car it was difficult because I would slam my foot down. This morning about half way through my drive to work the clutch pedal got very light (1/3 of normal). The car still seemed to engage in gear properly......any opinions? FWIW I beleive it is the original clutch. Thanks

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bleed the system and see how it feels after. There is also a problem with the design of the actuator lever for the clutch. The slave piston may have been stuck in the wrong position on the lever and now it popped back in proper position. When you do get a clutch, get the new actuator. There is a TSB issued for it. The improperly designed actuator is also known to allow even a brand new clutch to slip when shifting under power at high rpm's. I would also suggest getting the newly designed slave cylinder.
huh.....thanks. It didnt seem to be slipping then or now, I bet that actuator is part of the problem. The clutch should not have been so hard to depress.
