Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When your top is down is there a noticeable gap where the arrows indicate on my photo? Reason I ask is I have recently solved a convertible top operating problem, but notice a gap where I can actually insert the tips of my fingers. I never actually noticed this gap before and may be fretting about nothing at all. Are all 996 owners paranoiac?

POST 2Original post

My cab also has that gap. It's somewhat annoying because the visible material underneath is grey in color, while the cab material is black.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well for me Doug that is good news. Thanks a million mate.

POST 4Original post

My Mk I C2's profile is nearly identical: >'99 Cab w/hardtop >70K miles >Daily driver, pretty much. >Tell tale gap when top is down, just like Hurdigurdi Man's. Could this be an early warning sign of forthcoming IMS failure? (Are we paranoid? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Now leave me alone.) ha.

POST 5Original post

Hurdi...I have that gap too. is yours wide enough to add more badging? I'm thinking you could fit C A B R I O L E T in there! .

haha nice one haha.. But at least I am easier in my mind now and the top is working as normal every time from dash and key in door up and down.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
