Hi all I bought my 996 recently good mileage and condition ..But the roof was not working at all. I removed the hard top that was on for quite a while and I topped up the hydraulic fluid that was very low . The roof now work fast and latch good but the rear cover need to be operated manually from behind the rear seat ( to open or to close ) Fuses are fine ..manual operation is easy no obstructions or alike .. Anyone knows how this cover operate ? Electric motor ? Hydraulic ? Any tips on what would the problem be ? Thank you.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think that once the top has been manually operated, it needs to be re calibrated.
The cover (also known as a "clamshell") is operated by an electric motor. The motor pushes two cables that move the clamshell from either side. You can search around this site for some more info, but here's two threads on the subject: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...lam-shell.html https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...more-pics.html
