Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My secondary air injection pump has gotten very loud. So I decided to rebuild it per the helpful instructions in this thread. https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...age=4&t=735878 However, the SAI pump on MY99 cars is different and I cant figure out how to get to the bearings to clean and lube them. I have the motor out of the housing, I removed to two long bolts that hold the motor together, but I cant get the plates off of either end of the motor. Does anyone know how to get them apart? I cant see any tabs or screws holding them in place. All Ive managed so far is to make a mess of carbon dust and stab my self in the hand with a screwdriver.

POST 2Original post

Put the two long screws back in about half way, and give a tap on the screws head, it should pop apart..

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@Porschetech3 thanks for the suggestion. I reassembled the pump and put it back on the car before I saw this. Ill give it a try next weekend. Do you know if the bearing will stay pressed into the plate that pops off? Also, how do you access the bearing at the other end of the motor? The side with the wires doesnt want to let loose either.
