I have a 2002 996 Coupe 6 speed and I'm hearing an odd 'fluttering' or rattling noise coming from in front of the driver that seems to be related to engine speed. The noise increases as engine speed increases regardless of wheel speed. The noise fades when engine speed is idle even if the car is moving at speed (pop into neutral and get off the gas at 70 MPH and the noise goes away). I'm guessing it may be vacuum related, and my first thought was the brake booster, but I'd like to get opinions from you experts before I throw any parts at it. Thanks

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
