Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So if I replace the CDR23 in my 03 996.2, (it has the MOST fiber optic system), with an aftermarket unit, will the alarm system still function correctly?

POST 2Original post

Yes it will. I believe there’s a wire that attaches to the OE radio that needs to be grounded for the alarm to function. It has been a long time since I had my 996 system updated, but it’s a brown wire, as I recall.

POST 3Original post

Yes brown wire with blue stripe, needs to be grounded for the alarm to function.
