Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone, Just joined the forum and am a proud new owner of a 2001 996. My dad had the same year before trading for a 997 so this is kind of weird......where the central locking switch is, there is no light nor is there a little white picture of a key on the button. It is basically a blank button. And no it is not faded. It does not toggle so to speak and does nothing. Was this an option? I have PSM and the Technic Package and owners manual shows the toggle switch clearly so am very perplexed. Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Sounds like someone swapped out the original central lock switch with a blank switch cover?? Any pics? You can see the switch in the upper right part https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ml#post5402104

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry not at home now....my locking button looks exactly like the one on the bottom of that row.....blank Not sure why someone would do that!! Got it from a Porsche dealer too. Easy to replace that switch?

Maybe the PO's toddler locked them out of their car?
