While the answer should be Yes, I need to make sure. Will the Hardtop from a 996 fit onto a 997 straight away?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

According to the Porsche guy (who wasn't positive) P/N for a hardtop is 996-04400000 and 997-04400000, so they should be exactly the same. If anybody knows differently, please chime in.
I don't have a cab or a hardtop, I do recall reading there was a change in the mounting hardware mid production 996 such that early hardtops won't fit later cars. Presumably this would also affect 997's which would have the later 996 mounting hardware.

hmmm, and my '03 certainly qualifies as a mid-production. As luck would have it, I'd be buying the 997 before selling the 996, so a fitting could be easily done. I just need to hold off listing the car for sale until I know whether or not the HT will go with it or not.
Part 17 and 18 are different 2005 and later. These are also the same for 997.
Thanks, hbdunn. Looks like our C2 might come including a hard top.
