Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I backed my car out of the garage yesterday, and my 4-year-old found this on the floor where the 911 had been. It's rubbery, and it appears to have broken in half from something under the car - I just don't know what. Does anyone recognize it? It's from a 2004 911 Targa. (Ruler shown is in MM) .

POST 2Original post

A miniature version of the liberty bell? Actually, it kind of looks like a broken part of a light bulb receptacle? Is it plastic, ceramic or another material? Odd. -Eric

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It feels like rubber or silicone. I can bend it in half.

POST 4Original post

Have you had the rear hatch open lately? There are rubber stops on the bottom of the rear glass. That kind of looks like one. This pic was taken through the glass of my hatch.

It looks like broken half of electrical protection boot often found on the ends of brake pad sensor connector or abs wire connector.

You would never buy one because you lack taste and refinement.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's definitely not the rear glass/hatch stops - it's too small. I'll definitely check out the brake pad wear sensors though! OT: I LOVE my Targa! Not for the roof (which I almost never use), but because it's effectively a hatchback. I've moved sheets of plywood in the back of this ****!

Thanks! Doesn't look like the right part though...

POST 13Original post

There are many people on here that have been all over their cars and are very good at guessing at stray "hey this fell off my car where did it come from?" It would help to know WHERE under the car the part was....for instance, front/back, left front quadrant, rear right quadrant and so on. I understand it could have rolled or fallen off while pulling into the garage, but knowing where under the car the part might possibly have been from helps. Front - suspension component; Middle - transmission component; Back - engine component/suspension component; and so on........do you see what I mean? Looks like a split grommet from somewhere....

DBjoe, leave these targa guys alone before you get in trouble.
