Quick question .... I am looking at http://new-country.porschedealer.com...75293/info.php (more pictures available on autotrader). Its beautiful, been maintained at the local Porsche dealership since birth -- full records, etc. And it comes with a CPO for the next 2 years or 15k miles (I dont drive a ton, so that will be fine). I think $35k is a little pricy, but a 2005 C4S with a full CPO and great records is pretty sexy. Any thoughts? Pro: -Perfect documentation -Well maintained, interior and exterior looks great -Single owner car -Has all the toys but Nav -CPO (!!) -Beyond beautiful Cons: -High mileage -$35k for a 996 Thx!

Doesn't sound bad for a 2005 C4S. I'd prefer one with lower mileage, however. 87K is up there...
Having just purchased an 03 C4S for more than $35K, I would say that's a good price, despite the mileage. If well-cared for, that car was clearly used, so make sure it's PPI'd properly and that you anticipate a few dollars extra in the pocket. I wouldn't let the "CPO" make my decision; with/without CPO itself you may still land a warranty, and you still need a proper inspection, but clearly the piece of mind that you've got two or so years for things to break is a good back-pocket option.
2005 for the turbos and C4S are actually the 996 (997 in 2005 was the plain vanillas) Yeah - it seems like a good deal ...... any other thoughts?
Higher miles is not the issue here. Looks like you love the car, but I have seen less miles C4S well optioned under $30k Have you contacted seller yet? Are they negotiable? CPO is a plus though
85K miles? That's nothin'!
CPO 2 years 15k .....nuff said! winner!
Yeah, unless there are serious objections to people saying I am an idiot - I will buy this car. Omg - so excited .... !
My race car has 80k on it. Ok, it doesn't have the original engine, but the rest of the car is rock solid. At least what's left of it since I took a grinding wheel to anything that I didn't need for racing. But my point is that these cars are pretty well built. With a CPO, and a good price, I would not worry much about the miles. Emphasis on the good price of course.
Anyone have any other opinions? Definitely looking for advice from the experts (you guys) versus the rookie (me) Thx!
point of reference is my old 996 which I saw Friday.... 129k MILES on the original everything! (motor/trans) the car is solid and we disscussed the possible reasons being it was drive SO much = a good thing!
Ok, pulling the trigger I'm on a freaking business trip for 2 weeks, so won't be able to enjoy it for a while As a side note, my wife has already asked if she can drop the kids off at school in it (vs the 2010 x5). I am proud to say that the current car we own is the only automatic transmission she has ever owned I think I am over paying by 1k or maybe 2k, but I am okay with it ..... I gotta own this car
Good for you man! Love the spirit and of course post some pics when you get her and have a chance
Congrats. Waiting 2 weeks will be like waiting for xmas to come as a child.
Congratulations; you will love it.

I think 35K for a CPO 2005 C4S is an incredibly good price. Just for reference, my buddy bought a 2003 NON CPO C4S with 60K miles from the local dealer here for $36K last week. And yeah, he may have saved some money waiting for another car, but he had budgeted $40K for the car so anything below that which met his choice of color, model and options was fine with him. I am afraid to show him this post though He'll be so jealous you got such a beauty WITH CPO for $35K! You got a GREAT DEAL. Congratulations on your purchase!
I think it's a really good deal too. Can you get a better deal, maybe, but you are right in the range there. you're going to love it. I got mine 4 weeks ago and still have to go out to the garage all the time just to prove to myself it's really there. it's not a small amount of money but you'll be happy you did it, and you'll get over the sticker shock your first nice drive in your new ride.
I saw this C4s, and was ready to buy it. However, I started driving my 928 after taking it out of storage, and I decided to hold on getting another impractical toy. I thought it was a very good deal, and I might have paid over the phone if it was silver or gray. Despite the color (keeping one black Porsche is enough work), I thought the deal, with the CPO, was worthwhile. Good luck with it, you'll enjoy the heck out of it. I'll be curious to hear how your kids like riding in the back seats.
Having just bought a 1 owner '03 C2 with full maintenance docs here is my .02... This seems like a solid deal. 1 owner, 6 years, CPO for 15k if the PPI checks out I would buy it in a heart beat. See if you can find the service history on it. That should give you some peace of mind.
I can't comment on price, but I CAN mention that my 2000 996 is my daily driver and has 118,200 miles and counting and has only just recently gotten its first new clutch, RMS and IMS upgrade (for peace of mind only). It's been a supremely reliable and well built, rattle and squeak free sports car. 87,000 miles is nothing for one of these cars if well maintained.

I've come to the solid conclusion that there's nothing wrong with paying 1k or 2k more than the best price out there on the internet. The fact is, you got the car you wanted, when you wanted and you will never know what might be wrong with a lower-priced car out there on the internet. And take it from me, don't look at any similar listings for other C4S any time soon. You will find better prices in the coming months. It doesn't matter. You could continue to wait and continue to wait for a better and better price. Eventually these cars will only be worth about 9-10k and there they will sit. The fact is, that was the agreed price for this car at this time. Welcome to the club. Enjoy the ride and be satisfied with the deal you got. Cheers!

996s still have plenty of depreciating to do but that is a pretty grim outlook!
Well, you can already find some sub 20k. The air cooled 911s hold more value than similarly aged 944s (and the variants), but 996s aren't all that 'special'. They will always hold some value for people who like to track older cars but, otherwise, there's lots o f996s available and newer cars offer so much now, for so little. Supply and demand.
