Anybody happen to know (or have an opinion) about what percentage of 996s were sold in the U.S. with sports seats? Were they rare, unusual, common? Thanks in advance.

Not rare , but not every 996 has them. I was lucky that my C2 came with sport seats, although I didn't love them at first.

I have a factory set in my '02. It's just a guess, but I'd say under ten percent had them. They were one of the options I was looking for, and they didn't come up all that often in 911 ads.

They seem to sell for top dollar on ebay and other places. If you're looking for a nice seat similar to those look at the Recaro Topline Sports.

which ones are the sport seats? There is the regular ones, the ones with the plastic covered back (sometimes painted) and the ones that are not adjustable and come with the GT3.

These are optional on the US GT3 as they were found mostly on European GT3's. What's known as Sports Seats come standard on US GT3's, however a lot of owners have upgraded the seats themselves.
