Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

My engine is making noise and found a replacement but want to verify it fits before buying it. I have a 2000Carrera4 automatic. I found a 1999 6 speed. Will this engine bolt right up to my trans and other items? Thanks

You will need to swap wiring harness and throttle body, and flywheel/flex plate.Buy it.

POST 3Original post

Keep in mind that federal emissions laws prohibit installing an engine from an older model year car in to a newer model year car. You may not care, and it probably won't be an issue depending on where you are, but check it out before you pull the trigger.

Probably. Still not legal and may be an issue if he wants to sell to an out of state buyer...but yeah, zero enforcement most likely.

I'd bet the Feds don't know the difference between an m96/01 and an m96/02..

POST 8Original post

Just stick with a 3.4...anything else will cost you double what the car is worth...ask me how I know.

Yes no one will know. And they are the same engine except the above parts mentioned to be swapped. Do it.

POST 10Original post

2000 Boxster S 3.2L engines fit as well. I believe even the 2001's will fit. Pretty much the same engine just with slightly less power. More like 270-ish crank HP.

Put one of these in there. If it fits in a Miata, shouldn't be too hard. https://www.thedrive.com/news/37475/...pping-pleasure
