What is this sunroof-area part? This is from my 2004 C2 Coupe. It was sitting loose in the headliner. It's 79mm long, 15mm tall, 10mm wide. It has that "soft felt" on one side, and is shaped like it "hooks over" something, and prevents two surfaces from clattering / rattling. What is it and where does it go? 79mm wide
I just looked at my sunroof, don't see anything like it.
Looking over the parts diagrams quickly http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p..._911_parts.php (Click "Body" section in the grey colored bar,) I don't see anything that looks exactly like that. Not that short of a piece at least. My WAG is that this was a previous owners solution to a rattle. If you notice the sunroof rattling with it out you may figure out the use for it soon enough!
There is/was a TSB for sunroof rattles that involved putting "packing pieces" between the sunroof frame and the roof. That looks like it may be one of those "packing pieces".
Heh, that idea -- that this was a previous "fix" -- makes sense and is comforting. It's like putting something back together and having left-over hardware, ack!
Hi guys, if Im not mistaken this piece goes on a metal crossbar in the roof where the sunroof liner could catch/scrape on it if fully opened. its hard to describe but you can see the metal crossbar when the sunroof is tilted and you look in the opening. You can replace it back if you take the back of the headliner off.

Hi Felt side is up so you insert it on the metal cross bar and the smooth side will rub on the liner of the sunroof. Hope this is clear...
